Big tuskers in front of Africa's highest peak, then south into Tsavo's red-earth country. You ride the SGR train back to Nairobi.

  1. Day 01

    Nairobi to Amboseli

    Morning drive south. Afternoon drive at the swamps as the elephant herds come in.

  2. Day 02

    Kibo at first light

    Pre-dawn departure to catch Kilimanjaro before the cloud closes in.

  3. Day 03

    Chyulu & Mzima

    Cross into Tsavo West and watch hippos from the underwater hide at Mzima Springs.

  4. Day 04

    Shetani lava

    Lava flows, Chaimu crater, and a sunset at the Ngulia escarpment.

  5. Day 05

    Red elephants

    Tsavo East: the Galana River, Lugard Falls and the red-dust herds.

  6. Day 06

    Rail home

    Afternoon SGR from Voi to Nairobi, with the plains passing the window.
